Player units have a profession which determines which classes are currently available to the unit. There will be ten professions in the game, and each profession has access to three classes. The unit's profession also grants skills in addition to those provided by the class.
Professions will have an alignment based around cultural, intellectual, and craft affinities, which allows for each profession to have an affiliation bonus with another profession. Professions may be used as a sub-level for your character which will add the profession skills to the abilities your character can perform during their turn. Characters will also be able to learn new professions, and in order to do so will start at the beginning level of that profession, leveling it up to unlock the sub-level ability.
The professions available to player units are:
